The Lodge Chalets
The Lodge blends seamlessly in to the surroundings with eight chalets built out of stone and thatch. Each chalet has a balcony over the valley, giving spectacular views from your own room. You can even take your morning tea on your balcony as you look out over the forest below.
The Lodge Chalets Exterior
Chizarira Wilderness Lodge has its own private park which you can explore on foot. The accommodation is made up of 8 two-person chalets spread along the cliff edge. Each cool and airy chalet opens on to a balcony which overhangs the valley; a stunning combination of drama and comfort. Early morning tea is served on the balcony. Each chalet is equipped with an en-suite bathroom (and hot showers are always ready), mosquito nets and table and chairs.
The communal area of the camp is all under one roof and includes a dining room, cosy relaxation areas with views of the valley, and a bar that serves a variety of drinks, including South African wines. There is also a swimming pool and a campfire for unwinding in the evenings. The food cooked at Chizarira Wilderness Lodge depends on the weather, but food generally consists of hearty breakfasts, light lunches and gourmet dinners. Picnics are valuable on request, so you can take you lunch with you as you explore the local area.
Your laundry is collected and delivered every day.The lodge regards game walks as the best way to see wildlife. These can be conducted in the morning or afternoon. Expert professional guards help you to learn more about the game. You can also participate in a braai or take sundowners in this area.
Chizarira Wilderness Lodge also offers game drives and camping expeditions, as well as trips to visit a local village. The popular village trips allow guests to experience truly rural African life. The game is widely distributed throughout Chizarira National Park and viewing can be difficult due to the tall grass. However the appeal of Chizarira lies instead in its total remoteness and the opportunity to experience Africa in its original form. The Park is known for its excellent game walking and the best way to enjoy the flora and fauna is to walk along the elephant tracks and mountain trails with a professional guide. Although the park is open year round, the rainy season renders some areas inaccessible, and the best time to visit is between April and November.
Children Policy:
Attitude towards children: Children are allowed at the camp.
Generally recommended for children: we don't recommend Chizarira as a park for children as the terrain is very rugged, there is plenty of dangerous big game here – and the walks can be strenuous even for adults.
As this is a very open safari camp, with big game passing through regularly, all children must be supervised by their parents at all times.
