This quintessential journey encompasses Namibia's attractions as a whole: stunning landscapes, endless skies, barren deserts, rugged mountains and spectacular wildlife. Explore the dunes of Sossusvlei and the awesome space of the Namib Desert. Encounter marine life around Swakopmund, the volcanic rock-strewn landscape of Damaraland and the game-filled savannahs of Etosha. Such experiences are enhanced by a range of camps and lodges, including diverse activities such as a scenic flight to Swakopmund, a dolphin cruise with private beach lunch at Walvis Bay, hiking in Damaraland, interacting with the Damara peoples (dependent on their movements) and tracking black rhino on foot.

Day to day itinerary

Brief Itinerary:

  • Days 3 & 4: Fly to Swakopmund. Stay at Hansa Hotel
  • Day 5 & 6: Travel by vehicle to Damaraland Camp, Damaraland
  • Days 7 & 8: Drive on to  Desert Rhino Camp, Palmwag Concession
  • Days 9, 10 & 11: Road transfer to Ongava Tented Camp, Etosha region

Detailed itinerary:

Days 1 & 2

From Windhoek we drive to Kulala Desert Lodge in the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve. Here we explore the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei, the moon-like landscape of Dead Vlei and the surprising variety of wildlife of the Namib Desert.

Days 3 & 4

We take a scenic flight to Swakopmund, a picturesque town that blends European and African culture. We’ll explore the Atlantic coast with a private boat cruise from Walvis Bay to Sandwich Harbour (weather permitting) to see diverse pelagic (ocean-going) birdlife, Cape fur seals and rare Heaviside's dolphins up close. We stay at the grand Hansa Hotel.

Days 5 & 6

Travel up the legendary Skeleton Coast and past the Brandberg Mountain – the second largest monolith on earth – to Damaraland Camp. Game drives and nature walks showcase the stark desert beauty and its fascinating desert-adapted wildlife.

Days 7 & 8

Drive north to Desert Rhino Camp in the enormous Palmwag Concession. Few places on the planet can offer this level of privacy and wilderness experience. Highlights include tracking the black rhino, game drives and nature walks – and meeting ancient plants.

Days 9, 10 & 11

We depart for Etosha National Park where we experience the pinnacle of game viewing and are accommodated in the privacy of Ongava Tented Camp on the extensive and productive private Ongava Game Reserve.

Day 12

Say farewell to the adventure as we return by light aircraft to Windhoek, arriving at approximately 4pm.

Wildlife Of Namibia

Desert-adapted wildlife across Namibia is the highlight, particularly in the Damaraland and Palmwag Concessions, with black rhino being the highlight at the latter. On the Atlantic coast three species of dolphins, ocean birds and Cape fur seals may be encountered.

Ongava Game Reserve features almost all of the Etosha’s characteristic wildlife, with plains game such as springbok, gemsbok, wildebeest, Burchell's zebra, Hartmann's mountain zebra, red hartebeest, giraffe, eland and endemic black-faced impala seen; Etosha itself has elephant to add to the list. Lion and both black and white rhino are present. Birding across the country is excellent.
