Hotel Information

Antelope Park is home to the world famous African Lion and Environmental Research Trust (ALERT) lion rehabilitation programme which is a multi-phase lion conservation initiative as featured in hit UK TV documentary "LION COUNTRY". It is Africa’s first genuine programme working to ethically re-introduce the offspring of captive-bred African lions back into the wild.

Set in over 3000 acres of open savannah grassland, Antelope Park is a unique game reserve and a haven of tranquillity set in the African bush, welcoming guests and volunteer eco-tourists alike to the charming and remarkable camp site. Walk with lions, ride through the wilderness on elephant or horseback, view the abundance of wildlife in the Park or canoe on the scenic lake. During the evening, our exclusive Night Encounters offer a truly amazing, close up experience of lions hunting in their natural environment.

An array of accommodation is on offer, from en-suite lodges and river tents, to campsites and beautiful self catering lodges. To further complement the experience, safari style, home cooked meals are available.

ROOM TYPES

 Island Lodges                                                      

Set in picturesque and tranquil surroundings, these three beautiful, luxurious, thatched, teak-panelled en suite lodges are suitable for couples, those looking for a luxury experience and honeymooners. The Island Lodges boast magnificent views across the lake, which can also be enjoyed from the raised bathtubs situated near the back of each room. Two lodges have double beds whilst one room is a twin, Each room contains a heater and fan.

Please note: Island Lodges are not self-catering, standard rates include a full English breakfast.

                                     River Lodges

Our thatched, en suite lodges come with everything you need for a truly comfortable and memorable experience. You'll find a large, raised wooden deck veranda overlooking an inlet of the river - the perfect place to sit and unwind after a busy day with the King of the Beasts!

River Lodges come furnished with either double or twin beds, plus a bunk bed set, ideal for a family! The rooms also contain en suite shower, fridge and heater and fan.

Please note: River Lodges are not self-catering, standard rates include a full English breakfast. When possible, the number of beds per room can be adjusted to suit specific needs.          


River Tent

Large, East Africa-style en suite tents provide that "touch of Africa", and offer lovely scenery and privacy, each overlooking an inlet of the lake. Permanent, spacious canvas tents on gwaai-tile base, they are all furnished with indigenous teak furniture, handmade made at Antelope Park. The tents are fitted with en suite teak-panelled showers, toilets and washbasins, and each contains a heater and fan.

                                     River Lodges

Family Lodge  

Our lovely Family Lodge is situated on the water's edge with delightful views overlooking the lake. It boasts a spacious, light-filled interior and opens onto a large verandah with plenty of space to sit and relax. Perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Acacia (sleeps 12 guests): Beautiful brick-under-thatch lodge with two spacious, inter-leading rooms plus upstairs loft, en suite showers, and a small basic kitchen with fridge. The lodge also has a heater and fan.

 Self-Catering Options      

Ntaba Lodge Complex (sleeps up to 20 guests): A complex of three units, set on a picturesque hillside, accessed across the bridge spanning a narrow section of the lake and roughly a 5 minute walk from our reception office. The complex is fully serviced with the option to self-cater.

Unit 1: Pretty brick-under-thatch lodge complete with four spacious, teak-furnished bedrooms (two en suite, one separate bathroom and toilet), spacious, fully furnished lounge cum dinning room, and fitted, fully equipped kitchen. This unit can sleep up to 14 people.

Unit 2: Two roomed brick-under-thatch unit with adjoining bathroom. All furnishings are teak, handmade at Antelope Park, and  Serenity Lodge (sleeps up to 12 guests): Pretty brick-under-thatch lodge comprising four spacious, teak-furnished bedrooms (two en suite, one separate bathroom and toilet), spacious, fully furnished lounge cum dining room, and fitted, fully equipped kitchen. The lodge is fully serviced with the option to self-cater.          


Standard Rooms                                        

Basic but comfortable, our standard rooms are ideal for guests who are on a budget but still like a few creature comforts, most importantly a comfy bed! The rooms are not en suite; separate male and female ablutions are shared with the Camp Site, and are based in close proximity to the rooms.

Camping

Perfect for overlanders, campers and those on a budget, our campsite is located in a beautiful, shady area right near the lake and swimming pool so guests can cool off and unwind after their journey. Each camp site offers braai/barbeque facilities and plug points. Separate male and female ablution blocks are located close to the Campsite.

Please note: Camping is on a self-catering basis, although meals can be taken in the main camp dining area if pre-booked; guests should arrange with reception on arrival if they wish to book to have any meals at the Park during their stay.             

ANTELOPE PARK'S ACTIVITIES

Would you ever have thought it possible to stroll through the African bush with a free-roaming lion at your side? At Antelope Park this can become reality as you take lions out ‘for a walk’ No collars, no leashes, no fences - you truly will be walking with the King of Beasts.

 WALKING WITH LIONS

A walk will last around one and half hours and the lion cubs accompanying you on this incredible journey range in age from 6 to 18 months. You might even be lucky enough to witness them practicing their stalking and hunting skills or maybe even making a kill

You won’t want to miss out on this once-in-a lifetime opportunity as you roam free with the lions, interact with them and get closer than you ever thought possible, all under the supervision of our experienced guides and handlers.

But your Lion Walk is much more than you think. It‘s not just a very privileged photo opportunity, it‘s the chance for you to become a conservationist


ELEPHANT RIDES & TRAINING

Elephant Rides Climb on board nature’s four-wheel drive and let these mighty beasts take your African adventure to majestic new heights! Experience the thrill of a lifetime as you ride one of our African elephants. There really is no way to describe it, you just have to try it!

Our elephant safaris give you a stunning bird’s eye view of the Park. See just how many of the different game species you can spot from your regal vantage point!

During full moon we also offer lunar rides: a truly exciting opportunity to be on these majestic creatures in the wilderness of Antelope Park. Observe an abundance of game under the starry African sky and bright full moon.

Elephant training sessions are also an opportunity to interact with, teach and stimulate these magnificent animals up close and personal.


EXPLORE THE BUSH

Explore the BushOff the beaten track, take a guided foot safari or horse trail and learn all about Antelope Park and its game from our friendly and knowledgeable guides. With its remarkable and abundant birdlife and over 20 species of mammal to be found in the Park’s beautiful surroundings you will realise why our guests return year after year.

For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, with an old fashioned twist, choose the magnificent horse drawn carriage. Perhaps you wish to take your safari to new heights and experience the majesty of being up top one of the largest mammals in the world. Our elephant safaris give you a view like no other – and an up close and personal experience to treasure! Game drives in off-road vehicle’s are another favourite with trained guides accompany all game viewing excursions, day and night.


FISHING & CANOEING 

Get hooked , and reel in your dinner! Your catch of the day could include some of the excellent bass, bream and catfish to be found both in the in the river. Bring your own equipment or hire boats, canoes, rods and tackle from reception.

 Shoot the breeze ... canoe and boat hire is available, together with lifejackets for the whole family. What better way to view birdlife and stunning African sunsets whilst relaxing with your favourite people. Hop onboard a canoe, feel the exhilaration as you glide across the early morning misty waters as you explore the river. Take the Sundowner cruise in the evening and find out just why Africa is famous for her fiery sunsets.
