The Bulawayo Club, situated in the heart of historic Bulawayo, occupies one of the most imposing buildings in the city. Built in 1935, the foundation stone was laid by the Prince George, later King George VI of Great Britain. Originally a Gentleman’s Club in a tradition which flourished the world over in the Age of Empire, the Club has been commercialized as a boutique hotel.
Revelling in a unique tradition and now being lavishly renovated, let us take you back to a time less stressed and cynical. The classic intimacy of this remarkable establishment will ensure that you will return time and time again
While the Bulawayo Club has been lovingly renovated, much of the original furniture, fittings and early colonial artwork remains. Visitors will be walking in the steps of the giants, both illustrious and notorious, of southern African history. On the second floor, the Club’s fifteen rooms have been brought into the 21st Century with décor and fabrics which complement the dignified surroundings. The rooms are light and welcoming, with the high ceilings, big windows and Oregon pine floors fashionable in a bygone era.
