Khulu Lodge
Khulu Ivory “Grandfather of Ivory” is located on a private concession of 6,000 acres. The beauty of this camp is that it offers our guests luxurious and private accommodation. Modern amenities are fused with an old world, safari style ambience. The entire camp overlooks an ancient riverbed, in todays terms called a 'vlei'. The waterhole in this vlei is known to attract a variety of the greatest wildlife and birdlife in Hwange National Park.

Designed for those who are looking for a real escape, Khulu caters for no more than twelve guests at a time. This intimate camp comprises of three bespoke thatched safari style suites built onto platforms. The rooms are well appointed and each designed in a modern contemporary style. Each suite has an indoor and outdoor shower, a balcony for game viewing and individual tea and coffee making facilities. The beds are twins, but can be converted to super king size for double occupancy. Khulu has been carefully designed to have minimal impact to its surroundings and the environment.Khulu’s main area has a full bar and provides a wide variety of local and imported beverages. There is a plunge pool located on the deck of the main area, as well as a raised fire pit for stargazing and night caps. All the camps water is from our borehole and there is an onsite laundry service.

Things to do at Khule Ivory Lodge
Early morning game drives set out at 5.30am with our licensed guides both into the National Park, and on our own 6000 acre concession. Mornings are usually productive of hyena and wilddog as well as the other plains game.
Game drive
Evening game drives both on the concession and into the game park will include a stopover for sundowners with your choice of beverage. On offer are; half day game drives or full day game drives, night drives, visits to the Painted Dog Conservation Centre, walking safaris, pan/hide sits, game counts (on request).
Early Morning Walks
Walking safari with your pro-guide. Early morning walks after a fireside coffee and muffins is a wonderful way to start your day. Starting time is first light.
Lodge Accessbility and Hwange National Park
Khulu Ivory is accessible by using the Bulawayo / Victoria Falls main road and arriving at Ivory Lodge. Access from there will be done via private transfer from the Lodge into Khulu Ivory. Ivory Lodge is only 2.5 kilometers off the Bulawayo / Victoria Falls road. The distance from Bulawayo is 258 kilometers and from Victoria Falls 180 kilometers. Hwange airport is only 8 kilometers away.
The Park is located in the north-west of the country and only a two-hour drive from Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park is the largest wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe. At an area of 14,500 sq km, approximately the size of Wales, the park is home to vast tracts of Kalahari sandveld where teak and mopane woodlands are interspersed with saltpans and grassy plains. Wildlife here is prolific and population densities rank among the highest in Africa. There are more than 100 mammal species, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, white rhinos, wild dogs, brown hyenas, buffaloes and elephants, the latter of which boasts a population of more than 30,000. Birding is also excellent with the wet season (December through March) providing excellent opportunities to see some of the 400 recorded species.
