Pamuzinda is a distinctive world class safari lodge situated on the banks of the Serui River, in the heart of a large private game park, soon to increase in size to 13,000 acres of wildlife habitat. The combined wildlife area of both Pamuzinda and Chengeta should reach 20,000 acres by 2013. The Royal Lodge at Pamuzinda has everything any travelling dignitary or international globetrotter would expect, including its own swimming pool, jacuzzi, under star day beds and showers, fire pit and braai areas and full personal butler service. The lodge is located a short drive (12km) from her sister lodge Chengeta, and only just over an hour from Harare.
Pamuzinda Safari Lodge has a total of 15 individual lodges inclusive of 7 garden suites, 3 Standard Double bedded and 3 Standard twin bedded lodges plus the Royal Suite.
Most lodges are located along the river and its confluence with the water almost to your balcony. Besides the Royal Suite,7 of the lodges have stunning private “garden rooms” Every garden room is individually designed and boasts an outdoor shower , private furnished patio & ‘under star’ day or night beds (we will make these beds up for you with full mosquito nets if required). The view from within each garden room has been specifically designed to give you a stunning view over the river and into the bush yet still maintaining your utmost privacy.
A large range of activities within the reserves are available. For those looking to get some exercise whilst on vacation, early morning or evening bush walks can be arranged with any one of our experienced guides.
We have stables at both lodges and can cater for both complete novices wanting an hour or two’s ride, or experienced riders wanting a half or full days’ ride, which can include a picnic lunch.
Fishing for bass, barbell or bream is best done on the Serui at Pamuzinda or on the Chengeta Dam, and whilst we are able to provide basic rods and tackle, the more serious fisherman is encouraged to bring along his own equipment.
Game drives in open game drive vehicles are generally taken both morning and evening and a prearranged picnic lunch out in the bush can be arranged. For those staying with us for more than 1 day, drives can be taken within both reserves. Night drives are also available to view the nocturnal animals and birds of the southern African bush, these normally start after dinner and you are generally out for an hour.
Chengeta and Pamuzinda’s two reserves boast over 45 mammal species, ranging from four of the Big Five – soon to be all five – to plains game, including giraffe, tsessebe, zebra, eland and wildebeest, through to the smaller game such as duiker, oribi, vervet monkeys and short-clawed otters. There are good concentrations of nocturnal species as well, such as civets, porcupines, aardvarks, and the very elusive aardwolf – or “maanhaar jackal”, related to the hyena – which also eats termites like the aardvark. Zimbabwe boasts a spectacular array of birdlife, and we are proud to say that between the two parks, we are home to approximately 350 species of bird, from the tiny southern masked weaver through to the larger species; the crowned eagle and the African fish eagle are resident and breeding, as is the rarer African finfoot. It is a popular destination with the Zimbabwe and International Birdlife members.
