The Great Little Hotel in the Bvumba Situated in beautiful mountain forest scenery, the hotel is well known for its food, good service and comfort. White Horse Inn is only 20 minutes drive from the city of Mutare, Zimbabwe. The Inn has 12 rooms and suites, decorated in soft colours to complement the superb outdoor vegetation, a delight to the eye all year round. All public rooms are on the ground level.The dining room combines style and, during the day, visual access to the local scenery. Over the years the Inn has established a reputation for the finest cuisine in the Eastern Highlands, with a menu that combines family favourites and unusual exotic dishes. Five-star cuisine with two-star economy. Next door is a cosy pub, a favourite all year round, particularly in winter when roaring log fires add warmth to the chill of the evening air. Two lounges are available to guests. These are complemented by a superb terrace, overlooking the swimming pool and the gardens below. The trees attract a huge variety of bird life, as well as the Vumba's rare samango monkeys. Walks in the garden are rewarding for guests interested in the wonders of nature; a stream passes through the grounds providing the surroundings with a fresh country feel.

We have 6 double-bedded rooms and 4 twin-bedded rooms - 1double-bedded room has shower only, the rest have bath with shower over. Several double-bedded rooms can take an extra bed. 2 mini suites - each with a large double bed leading down a couple of steps to a lounge area and onto a patio and the hotel swimming pool.

|Facilities and Amenities|
White Horse Inn has gained a positive reputation for its comfortable facilities and amenities, and especially for its cuisine.
There are two lounges, one for residents only, and a residents TV and video room. No piped music in the hotel, no TV's, radio or phones in the bedrooms. Access to the Internet is available for hotel residents. White Horse Inn is also a venue for small conferences and can host up to 16 delegates at a time. Conferences are held in one of the two lounges, which is configured accordingly.
Around the hotel is a delightful garden, which provides a peaceful setting for visitors to relax in, and a haven for bird life. A swimming pool is situated on an upper deck of the garden area, close to the main bedroom wing. There is a superb terrace overlooking the pool and the gardens below.
The dining room has won a number of awards for its menu and wine list over the years, and was a finalist in the 2006 Cheeseman Restaurant of the Year competition. It was rated five stars in the 2007 competition as well as being Restaurant of the Month for April

We have several acres of garden with a swimming pool and a rough croquet lawn.The trees attract a huge variety of bird life, as well as monkeys, particularly the Bvumba's well-known Samangos.Walks in the garden are rewarding for guests interested in the wonders of nature; a stream passes through the grounds, providing the surrounds with a fresh, country feel.
The Bvumba Botanic Gardens
The Bvumba Botanic Gardens which is well worth a visit. The altitude of the 30 hectares of botanical gardens allows a wide variety of indigenous and exotic plants to be grown. Azaleas, fuchsias and hydrangeas are particularly abundant. This little hotel is midway between Hillside Club in Mutare and Leopard Rock Hotel - both good 18 hole courses.
There are beautiful drives in the area, particularly the circular drive around the Essex and Burma Valleys - where coffee and banana plantations provide contrasts to the natural vegetation.Castle Beacon and Chinyankwaremba are both 15-minute climbs from the main road and both give even more spectacular views. Trips into Mutare, where museums, gardens, shops and the Cecil Kop Game Reserve are popular.
Mutare Museum has an interesting collection of cars going back to the beginning of the Century, as well as an aviary and other exhibits. They often have art exhibitions as well. Cecil Kop Game Park which was set up for educational and ecological reasons and is run by the Wild Life Society. Castle Beacon is approached from the Vumba Heights gateway and, from the rocky summit, Birchenough Bridge can be seen clearly. It is said that the Indian Ocean can be seen at dawn on a particularly clear day.
