With breathtaking views of Lake Kariba, tasteful food, cool wintertime temperatures, and sprawling wilderness waiting to be explored; you'll enjoy a feeling of escape ... exactly what you'd want!
Day 1: We Drive to Kariba; and Boat Transfer to Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, Game - Viewing
We drive to the west to Lake Kariba ( 360km) from Harare. We take the trip by road via a scenic drive crossing a range of mountains known as the Great Hydroelectricity. It is the continent’s third-largest dam after Aswan in Egypt and Cahora Bassa in Mozambique. It is now a very popular resort lake with island-studded water, fringed by mountains.
This enchanting lake is a year-round source of water for abundant animal and bird life, a playground for water-sport enthusiasts, and home to the most challenging fresh-water fishing in Africa. On arrival, you will be transferred to Bumi Hills Safari Lodge by boat.
All rooms have a shower, radio, telephone, overhead fan, and a balcony or veranda. The public areas include a lounge, a cocktail bar overlooking the Lake, and a dining room under a traditional African thatch from where there are vistas of the Lake in its various moods. Snacks are available on the poolside terrace. Enjoy the Afternoon game activity.
The Lodge: Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is situated on top of a hill approximately 55 km south-southwest of Kariba town. With the Zambezi escarpment as its backdrop, the well-known Bumi Hills Safari Lodge overlooks the foreshore below and the vastness of Lake Kariba. Each of the 20 bedrooms has a view of the lake and game can be seen grazing on the flatlands, which lead to the shore.
Overnight Luxury Lodge Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Days 2, 3, & 4: In Matusadona National Park
Enjoy Morning and afternoon game activities. It was in Matusadona that most of the animals were restored to safety during the building of the Kariba Dam – and freedom. The bird life of Matusadona is one of its outstanding features and for the fish eagle in particular, the remnants of the drowned forests of Kariba provide an abundant bonus of nesting sites.
Activities: The Lodge offers a variety of activities which include game viewing by Land Rover, on foot accompanied by a professional guide, and by boat. The sunset cruise provides guests with wonderful photographic opportunities, especially of the famous Kariba sunsets.
