Hwange Wildlife Experience Tour

Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest game park – approx. 15 000 sq. km of Savannah parkland along the Botswana Border and home to just about every African animal you ever wanted to see. The predators are in abundance, with leopards and lions making up the famous Big Five together with the elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Drive Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park

Early morning you will be driven to Hwange National Park. We will proceed to Hwange National Park; one of Africa’s finest havens for wildlife and is home to vast herds of elephants, buffalo, and zebra and has a very large concentration of giraffes. It is also home to many predators and endangered species plus very large and varied birdlife. Enjoy game viewing in search of exciting wildlife encounters. We return to our lodge for lunch.

IN the late afternoon, we set out on our second game drive in search of the “Big Five” – lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and leopard – as well as eland, the largest antelope, and also the elusive sable and much, much more. You have a choice of lodges in Hwange National Park. The Little Makalolo, DavisonCamp, The Hide Safari Lodge, and the majestic Hwange Safari Lodge.

Day 2: In Hwange National Park

Game viewing in the National Park in the morning and afternoon.

Big game such as elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, southern giraffe, zebra, and blue wildebeest are the most commonly seen mammals, enjoyed via game drives, guided nature walks, and hides. The Park’s waterholes and seasonal pans attract game in both quantity and variety – notably in the winter months.

The high occurrence of plains game also results in some first-class predator sightings such as lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah, and spotted hyena, along with the smaller African wild cat, serval, honey badger, bat-eared fox, and civet. Home to a varied bird community of over 420 species, these include martial eagle, secretary bird, crimson-breasted shrike, cut-throat finch, and southern pied babbler.

Day 3: Drive to Victoria Falls

Early morning game viewing before transferring back to Victoria Falls town where the tour ends.
